Everyday Makeup Routine – Using {Mostly} Drugstore Products!

Prior to fashion blogging, I used to be obsessed with makeup. I still love playing with different beauty products but my love for beauty definitely took a back seat once I found fashion. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy putting my face together.

My go to makeup look is glowy skin, lashy eyes and a neutral lip. I always feel ‘prettier’ when I wear a more minimal look. Today, I am sharing with you guys my favorite go to, everyday makeup products and the best part is that most of them are from the drugstore.

**for reference, I have normal to dry skin**

Foundation – I have finickey skin.. Cyclopentasiloxane (i call it cyclops) is one of the most commonly used ingredients in beauty products and my skin DOES NOT agree with it.  If I use a foundation that contains this ingredient I will wake up with clogged pores ALL over the next day. Needless to say I am very careful with what I put on my skin.

I use a combination of two polar opposite foundations

  1. Mac Prolong Wear Foundation – this has a hydrating formula to help with my dry skin

2. Loreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation – I mix this in as I dislike a full blown dewy finish. This is also a full coverage foundation which I am not afraid of.

The combination of these two foundations  creates the perfect finish for me. Please do what is right for your skin type! I am by no means saying you need two foundations. It is all personal preference and what works with your skin type.

Concealer cyclopentasiloxane – It took me forever to find a concealer that A. did not contain the cyclops ingredient, and B. provided me with enough coverage. I have been really enjoying Maybelline’s Master conceal as it has a medium coverage and lasts all day!

Setting Powder – Guys, listen to me when I tell you, you do not need the Laura Mercier setting powder! I have been using the Boots No. 7 translucent setting powder for years and it does the job juuust fine! Seriously, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Bronzer – There are so many qualities that I love about the E.L.F. bronzer quad, and for $6 bucks, you can’t beat it. The formula blends like a dream and provides a beautiful glow. There are some shimmers in two of the shades, but it doesn’t translate to the skin in a cheap way. There are also two shades that depending on your skin down that can be used for contouring as well. For my, it’s like I am getting two products in one, contour AND bronzer.

Highlighter – TheBalm’s highlighter formula is one of my favorites! It is so smooth and it applies so easily. I use Mary Loumanizer, but there are other shades for different skintones available.

Blush – I think one of the most under rated drugstore brands is Milani. I am obsessed with their blushes that come in a couple of formulas. I know it’s still winter but I can’t stop wearing their baked blush in Luminosi during the summer with a deep tan – it is such a gorgeous shade! I also really enjoy their matte blushes that have a matte finish in the winter.

Lipstick – If you suffer from dry lips and feel like you can’t wear liquid lipstick, I encourage you to try the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I can tell you from experience, no other formula works on my lips like this one does! They have so many shades to choose from and it’s only $3!

Brows – The Nyx Microbrow dupe is a great alternative for the Anastasia Brow Pencil! I use the shade ash brown. The product gives a very natural look and the formula lasts!
